Fantastic Mr. Fox

The new Wes Anderson film, an adaption of Roald Dahl’s “Fantastic Mr.Fox” is getting great reviews for its limited release in the US this week.

Those of us in Australia will have to wait till the new year to check it out (Jan 7), but it does look great.

Loving this song by Bat for Lashes at the moment.

Bat for Lashes is the stage name of Natasha Khan. She’s a Brit.

Great song, great clip.

Vocally she reminds me of Kate Bush in her 80s heyday (“Hounds of Love”).

My love for this song and clip are certainly helped by the fact that the song and clip are reminiscences upon a childhood crush that Khan had…the one and only Daniel Larusso. The name of this song reflects this, but some of the images in the clip are giveaways: the karate guy at the end, the car in the second half is the same station wagon with roof racks ala the Larusso’s and the stylised dancing/fighting in the first half. Love it.

Haunting and strongly nostalgiac.

Whilst having my knickers in a knot over Animal Collective and The Dirty Projectors earlier this year I completely missed the new album by Baltimore’s Dan Deacon.

I’ve been listening to some of the songs off his 2009 album “Bromst” over the last couple of days, and am really enjoying what I’m hearing. It is like early Brian Eno on amphetamines. Crazy? Hell, yes.
